A heartwarming tale of two siblings narrated in the backdrop of a lot of hippies accompanied by youthful music, was being watched by the Hindi filmgoers for the first time. Dum Maro Dum, a song composed by RDB and sung by Asha Bhosle is fresh in the minds of music lovers and remains unchallenged by time. It was through Hare Rama Hare Krishna (under the banner of Navketan films), that Dev Anand represented the rebelling young minds of those times on to the silver screen .

To repeat the success saga of this old movie, Rohan Sippy has titled his new movie as Dum Maro Dum. He has also included the song with its remixed version under the music direction of Pritam. For the present generation young film lovers, he has roped in Deepika Padukone in a stylish look for this new version of the old song. Both movies are linked together because of their current subjects. The old movie deals with the Hippie culture of '60s and the new movie deals with trading of drugs in Goa . The new movie stars Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu, Rana Daggubati, Prateik Babbar, Monty Munford and Aditya Pancholi.

The movie Dum Maro Dum has the essence of everyone's life in it. This film has Bipasha performing the character who wishes to be an air hostess, Abhishek that of a cop, Rana that of a musician and drug addict and Aditya that of a trader. The movie also has another person, who has several identities but he is not seen by anybody. He is at the helm of drug trading in Goa. Bipasha Basu through her character Zoe adds the element of Hippie culture to the movie.

Abhishek appears in the role of ACP Vishnu Kamath, who is entrusted with the responsibility of uprooting the drug traders of Goa. His character wants to run away from his past. Prateik in the role of Lorry does not have another option other than to risk his life to re-unite with his girlfriend in America. The character of Rana is Joki, who carelessly floats through his life as he loses all in a clash with mafia. Aditya Pancholi enacts the role of a small trader, who has a share in all the drug trades.

Through the film, viewers can travel to various places in Goa - the beautiful beaches, rave parties and discotheques are very common there. Reportedly Pritam has created different background scores for each and every character and the film is very well backed with the background music. Filmed in different famous tourist spots in Goa, this suspense film is eagerly awaited by all. No room for comparisons between Hare Rama Hare Krishna and Dum Maro Dum except for the different versions of the same song in both films.
