Too Much Anxiety?

By Alison Heath

What do you do when you can't take any more stress? During this time, the best thing to do is not to give up and not to lose hope. Here is a list of techniques that can help you overcome depression, fear, and anxiety.

We sometimes get stressed from situations we encounter. When encountering these events, always remember to get all of the facts of the given situation. Gathering the facts can prevent us from relying on exaggerated and fearful assumptions. This way, you can focus on reality.

Take it one day at a time. Try to focus on today instead of getting worried about the week or the month. You learn new things everyday. So just think about now and not about next week, next month, or next year. Next week will take care of itself.

Control your thinking. When experiencing a negative thought, read some positive statements and affirmations that help lift your spirits and make you feel better. You should give your common sense a fair fight since your fearful thoughts are often exaggerated.

Some people get depressed and have a difficult time getting out of bed in the mornings. When this occurs, you should take a deep breath and try to do something to keep your mind off of the problem. You could take a walk, listen to music, read, or do an activity. Doing something will keep your mind off of your problem and give you confidence.

Sometimes, it helps to be able to talk to someone about our stressful situations. You can talk with your trusted friend, a counselor, or a clergyman to feel better and maybe gain some advice and insight.

Dealing with our persistent fears is not easy, however there are many helpful resources available to us if you look hard enough.
