Things You Should Never Tell Your Date About Yourself

By Bernard Bowers

There are, in fact, a few things that you should never tell the person you are dating simply because it's not important. Some things are best left unsaid. You wouldn't want to turn off the person you're dating to the point they determine they're really not interested in you after all! When it comes to not discussing certain topics with your date that you don't need to, here are some essential tips to keep in mind:

Discussing with your date your past boyfriend, girlfriend, or former spouse is something you really need to avoid doing. Indeed, this is a bad idea! No one is really interested hearing about how great or bad your past girlfriend, boyfriend, or former spouse was. Don't dwell on the past. Your new date might think you're trying to make them like your past date or spouse, and this may be a turn off for them!

Another thing you need to avoid talking about is how much money you have or lack of it. If you do talk about it, then your date might get the impression that the most important thing to you in a relationship is money. This could be a relationship ender for you.

It is not a good idea to gossip about your past dates, friends, family, or whomever. Discussing this with your date is really not important so why bother. For some people, they think that those who gossip are busy bodies who have to be involved in everyone else's business but their own. If your date is a person who values their privacy and is a non gossiper, then this may be a turn off for them.

When it comes to your past intimate relationships, you should avoid discussing them. You cannot include this in any discussion. This may make your date very uncomfortable and put them in an awkward position as to what you may or may not expect from them. It's better if you do not discuss your past intimacies. Be sure that you steer far away from the topic. Better yet, don't even talk about it. This would be your best bet in your new relationship if you don't want to create waves.

If you cheated on your previous date, don't even think about talking about this in your new relationship! If you cheated in a past relationship, keep it to yourself because no one would want to hear about it. If you decided on talking about this subject, then you need to prepare yourself because your date would possibly tell you to take a hike. It is likely that they may decide that they don't want to risk the chance of you cheating on them because you already have a history of doing this. After all, you told them that you do have a preexisting history of cheating. Get the picture, don't talk about it!

Maybe there are other things that you believe would not be something important that you'd want to tell your date about you. Keep it to yourself if it's not important.

Well, you've probably got a good idea on what you should not tell your date. After all, do you want to keep dating the person you're with, or do you want to keep looking for someone new? There's a pretty good chance that you are telling yourself that you would like to continue dating the person you are with. If so, then you should try to avoid scaring them away from you. Remember, if the information is not important to the relationship, then some things are best left unsaid.
