What can we expect from solar energy?

By Joseph Sewell

Headlines in recent years have included those concerned with the energy crisis and related topics such as global warming and carbon emissions. This has resulted in more and more people becoming aware that there are changes needed in terms of how we live, and how natural resources, particularly energy, are utilised.

World governments, the US especially, have placed more focus on using solar power more comprehensively and rapidly. The perceived expense that goes along with have solar panels installed is an issue for homeowners. However, this should be less of a concern in the future as they become cheaper, as well as more efficient. The cost over the last five years has decreased significantly and the efficiency has made proportionate strides.

We are expected to see further positive changes in solar energy. These changes are currently under discussion and development. There are new methods of maximising energy from the sun being places on the market all the time. One such example is drapes having silicon installed which captures sunlight which shines through the window.

Solar is expected to be more prominent in our lives with more tasks and devices being made to draw from the sun's energy. Solar transportation is seeing huge progress through solar boats and planes and the solar car is presently undergoing a series of experiments. We can further expect the solar high-speed train.

Solar has also been used to effect in the space race so has already proven to be extremely influential. However, the main benefit which the majority of people see is how it can aid in the global warming situation. It is increasingly significant with less and less fossil fuels being available so we need as much work done as possible to develop alternative supplies of energy. What isn't in short supply is the potential that solar has which is why we can expect it to pervade numerous aspects of life. It is integral for the future of Earth.
