Give Up Smoking With One Of These Established Strategies For Success

You must be properly motivated if you want to be successful at quitting smoking. There are a myriad of benefits waiting to be had if you kick your smoking habit. It is within these benefits that you should look for the right motivation to enable you to quit. If you find it too daunting to quit smoking cold-turkey, consider helping the process along by trying replacements like nicotine patches or gum. These products will ease some of the withdrawal symptoms you might go through. Nicotine is a highly addictive drug and the physical cravings can be very difficult to overcome.

Talk to your doctor about quitting smoking. Your physician could have additional resources or methods for stopping smoking that you did not know existed. Your doctor will also be able to write you a prescription for medication to help you quit smoking, if he or she feels that it is necessary.

If you must smoke a cigarette, try to delay yourself first. Set tasks that you commit to performing prior to that cigarette, including small things such as going on a walk or making a fruit juice smoothie. You may find that diverting your attention to something else will delay and ultimately overcome that desire to smoke. Delaying can help to reduce the amount that you smoke, which can make a significant difference during the year.

Kicking the smoking habit may be the most difficult thing you have ever done, and the support of friends and family is critical.

You need to have an effective backup plan to help you though the rough spots. Never forget what keeps you motivated the most, and you'll have the best chance to succeed in following through. Keep this advice in mind and to help you stay on the path to being a former smoker.
