Information About Making Shaker Boxes That You Should Know

By Maude Moses

One thing that is often a welcome addition to a myriad of crafting projects are what is known as shaker boxes. This can include greeting cards, altered books, or scrapbooks. Making one will allow a person to add an element that is interesting and interactive in the items that they have finished. Especially when the individual that is intended to have it in the end is one who can be said to be easily distracted, bored, or have a need of a focusing object.

A shaker box is often defined as a small three dimensional object that contains shapes that move within them. These shapes are usually geometric in design and form patterns that are endlessly fascinating when you shake them. Other shapes have been known to be possible but many require extra care and attention when placing them within the container in question to get it right.

Following one's decision to make one of these boxes there is a need to assemble the appropriate supplies. Including the shapes one will put inside, card stock or another kind of stiff paper, acetate, glues, tape, and items of a decorative nature.

After the supplies are assembled an individual can begin their project by cutting out the back, front, and sides of the box out of card stock. Next one will have to cut a space for the viewing window out of the piece that has been designated as the front of the box. The acetate will then need to be placed in that opening and secured with double sided tape or another adhesive.

When the preparation of all the sides has been accomplished they will need to be sealed together with the exception of an opening that will allow a person to pour their chosen contents inside. Following that action one will then need to completely seal the box in question. This will then help prevent any little piece from escaping its confines.

Having added shaker boxes to a project gives one a fascinating and interactive element in their work. This can include a scrapbook or any other type of craft one can create. Thus one should take the time to learn how to make them as a way to entertain the intended receiver.
