Should You Super Size It?

By Kimberely Sigh

Kids have soccer, football, dance, theatre, tryouts, school events...and this is just the kids, what are your special activities outside of the home? Are you tired of being so busy?

You might say you are ready to slow down however the people who market and analyze what you will be eating next know you are not really going to slow down and based their livelihoods on just that fact. Medical journals are full of facts ranging from obese children to children in extreme danger from eating too much fast food. What does this have to do with being busy, well read on.

BMI or Body Mass Index, is an estimate of the ration of fat to muscle and bone based on your weight and height. An easy way to find you BMI is to take the weight of the person to the height of the person-The BMI is a reliable indicator of totally body fat, according to the National Institute of Health.

One way to know if you are making a difference is how you feel and the look of your body, some feel they are born to be a little fatter than others due to genetics however this is debatable, what is known for sure is your BMI score. BMI stands for Body Mass Index . This score is an estimate of the ration of fat to muscle and bone based on your weight and height. Many health facilities can measure this easily for you.

After you have spoken with your doctor or a health specialists and you find the right facility as to having your BMI measured you will be able to chart a path as to what needs to be done to bring that number down.

*Underweight BMI less than 18.5 *Normal weight BMI 18.5 to 24.9 *Overweight BMI 25 to 29.9 Obese BMI 30 or greater *Morbidly Obese, When you reach 30 BMI or higher you run the risk of diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and some cancers. Deaths from obesity-related causes in the U.S. are now the second-leading cause of death after smoking, accounting for more than 16% of all deaths.

Kids and parents alike don't need to obsess over watching their weight if they choose to turn around the life style that got them there. Exercise needs to be incorporated into an everyday habit. Parents maybe instead of sitting on the side lines watching your child play you could watch while standing and moving a little, or even walking back and forth as your child runs back and forth in their game? You might want to take up a sport with your child or workout along side them in training; the key is to get the body moving.

If you want to go the distance in any activity you are involved in you need to feed the body- NO, I'm not advocating you now super size anything, I'm talking about adding protein in a natural way, nuts, fruits, berries, and organic chicken will add to the body the natural, healthy enzymes that fuel the body for long periods of time, where as a product coated with preservatives and sugar will give you maybe an instant surge of energy but in the long run you will be depleted quicker and the body will crash. Take care of your body today and it will take care of you for many years to come!
