Taking A Look At Spreading Ashes

By Maude Moses

If that time has come where you are faced with the task of spreading ashes, d not stress out or get upset, because you can make it a beautiful process if it is done correctly. It can be seen as a healing period and a method of reconnecting with the one you love. Following a couple of simple rules will ensure that everything goes smoothly at it becomes a day of celebrating an important life.

Although in the media cremated remains are portrayed as light ash, the truth is that in reality they resemble more heavy sand. For this reason, they tend to not gently and beautifully flow into the air, but to fall heavily on the ground. These remains come from bones, so they do still carry some significant weight and they are not as light as some people believe.

It is also important to have a look at the weather before you set a date for the ritual. Wind can really work against you in a situation such as this. You don't want your loved one's remains to just scatter anywhere. For this reason, you are better off setting a date for the ceremony for which the forecast is sunny and not at all breezy.

It is also crucial that you check out the legal requirements of scattering cremated remains. It is forbidden that you do this on private land or in private properties, unless you have been permitted. Certain parks and lakes have regulations too, so watch out for these.

It is most common that a person's remains are kept inside an urn. But it is considered wise that you keep them in a plastic bag inside the container as well. This way they are kept sealed and secure even if the urn breaks. Pendants and rings are also available if you wish to keep some of the ashes in them and carry them on you wherever you go.

Spreading ashes can be a beautiful and peaceful moment, as long as you plan it properly. The ritual of saying goodbye to the person you love needs to be performed nicely and you should leave no room for disappointment. For this reason, make sure you do your research and organize the ceremony appropriately.
