Tips On Audition For Live Theatre Toronto

By Lydia Carney

It doesn't matter if someone is a veteran actor or a relative beginner, there are several different things that they can do to prepare themselves for a future audition. Remember that there are a variety of different actors in the world, so you must try and give yourself an edge whenever possible. Otherwise, you may find yourself not getting the parts that you want. There are many things you can do to help you audition for live theatre Toronto.

One of the most overlooked things that actors skip is to prepare a proper head shot. Getting a portrait of yourself will help out immensely in trying to get a role. It'll make you seem more professional, and it'll give directors a clear image of what you like when casting for particular role in their production.

As well as getting a head shot done, you'll need to prepare a good resume. Remember to list out all your previous acting experience, including different productions you were in when you were young. You need to appear versatile and very experienced in acting.

Sometimes you will audition for a specific part, but the director will find that you are better suited for a different role. In times like these, you should never try and be choosy with your parts. An actor should have a wide range of acting skills, so you should relish any opportunity to act, no matter what kind of role it is.

There will be times when you don't get a call back from an audition. Try not to take it personally. There are dozens if not hundreds of people that will try out for every part, so make sure to keep your head held high and keep trying. You'll eventually get a part if you stick with it.

Remember, the most important part of auditioning for live theatre Toronto is to keep trying. If you have enough passion for acting, you'll never give up. Keep auditioning for plays and you'll eventually get the success you're looking for. Good luck.
