A Review Of All the Different Nintendo DS models And Buying Tips

By Steven Tyler

More than five years ago, Nintendo jump started the portable videogame arena by producing the DS. Celebrated as a immensely popular device, the DS offered a cutting edge design, great titles and is responsible for introducing gaming to a wider fan base. Since that time, Nintendo have produced many updates and new models, but which of these different Nintendo DS models is good for buyers?

Regardless of being the longest lived and most outdated console, the original DS remains popular. New models are no longer sold in shops, but lots are found for small prices online, which adds to their fame. The original DS is also fitted to recognise the earliest versions of gaming titles which are no longer available to the successor models. If users can get past the weight and size, this device is great for those on a budget, the most cost-effective of the different Nintendo DS models.

Up next, the DS Lite didn't offer a enormous deviation from the functions of the original, but as the moniker implies it reduced the weight and size impressively. Apparently the DS Lite also offers the longest battery life of all the different Nintendo DS models, even judged against the more modern ones. The DS Lite remains widely popular with those who like less expensive consoles and are not bothered about the additional media of the DSi.

The Nintendo DSi represented the most outstanding change to the formula. Throwing in loads of cool new multimedia functions, including game downloads and twin cameras. Again, all the features of the original DS were improved, with the screen and sound being augmented. The DSi is the most technically competent of the different Nintendo DS models, and now the most popular.

With the DSi XL coming soon, there's plenty of choice when it comes to it. The earlier incarnations offer lesser features and sheen, but are cheap and still provide great gaming. However, if you're after multimedia capacities and more bang for your buck, the later models are a sound investment. One thing is clear though, all the different Nintendo DS models supply a brilliant gaming experience!
