Selecting Topics for Your Persuasive Essays

By Sandra Carter

Imagine for a minute a standard Saturday night - you are on the couch, surfing thru Facebook and reading all your friends ' status updates. Do you feel a little envious of all the excitement everybody seems to be having? Do their lives seem to be better than yours? I suspect that social networking sites make a contribution to depression. Statistics show that...

This is an illustrative example of a persuasive statement. You engage your reader by asking them to picture something with you or by asking them a question, and then bring them around to your method of thinking with your discussions about the issue. We all do this in everyday life so why is it so hard when we have to sit down to write a persuasive essay?

Persuasive essay topics are some examples of the toughest things in the world for people to decide on. It seems like you just say the phrase "persuasive essay topics", and your mind goes blank. Maybe the worst mistake people make is thinking they are not knowledgeable enough to make a convincing argument about something. Selecting a topic you're fanatical about is always a nice place to begin. Whether it's an activity that you have done, a trip you went on, or some other life experience, you have to commence with your own knowledge base and work from there. Whether or not you don't think you know enough about the subject to write a full essay, once you sit down and start, you will be shocked at what comes out.

Still unsure what to write about? Perhaps your teacher has given you some broad topic like history, from which to write a persuasive essay about, and you aren't sure where to go from there. One of my favourite resources to find essay topics is www.Good EssayTopics.com. The Class bar on the left side of the page allows you to pick the topic you've got an interest in and then displays sub-categories that permit you to get far more specific. Beneath the sub-categories, you can see the most well-liked subjects picked which simplifies things even further.

Irrespective of what topic you finish up selecting, ensure it is one that interests you. It is not possible to make an argument for something you do not understand or care about. Your teacher will respect the passion you put into your essay and grade it in an appropriate way. Don't let persuasive essay topics be what prevents you from turning in a great essay. Use the resources I have discussed to create the best paper possible while saving resources of time.
