One of the questions most frequently asked of life coaches is: "if I take a risk, how can I be certain that it will make me successful?"
The fact that the speaker is asking the question is the key to understanding their state of mind. What they are expressing is doubt about the result of what they are considering doing.
The enemy that they are facing when they consider their future is not an external enemy. It is the internal enemy of doubt.
From our NLP training we can be sure that if we set out on any new venture with a powerful belief that we're going to succeed there is a strong possibility that we will succeed. The difference between success and failure is just about always the strongness of our belief that we will succeed.
It is for certain that without a powerful part of self-belief we will never achieve success in any endeavour.
The question then is: "How do I create a powerful belief within me?"
The answer's that: "you decide what you need to believe in order to succeed and you practice making the feeling of belief that you will succeed." It is quite simply practicing creating the feeling inside you that leads to your managing to keep that belief.
Do not ask others whether you are likely to succeed, tell yourself that you are going to succeed. It isn't other people who have to do the work, or take the risks, or feel the discomfort, it is you. And the feeling which will sustain you through the hard times is the feeling of belief in yourself and the seriousness of what you are engaged in doing.
I always check out: "will this enterprise or product benefit other people?" If the the reply I get is "yes" then I set out to find a way to offer the service to the people most certain to purchase my product, service or idea. All I then do is leave it to my belief in the worthiness of what I'm doing to drive me forward.
