Find Your Very Best Self!

By Kim Atkins

One of the most effective ways to begin the process of trying to better yourself, either on a personal level or a career level, is to generate your goals based on the SMART concept: S=specific, M=measurable, A=attainable, R=realistic, T=time bound. By using this concept and the tips outlined in this article, you can be on your way to achieving your goals.

Power naps can be a very effective way to help you maintain your body and mind. If you have a few minutes during the day, don't hesitate to take 15 minutes and nap. You will wake up feeling refreshed and ready to continue completing your work for the day ahead of you.

It is important to understand that the beliefs you have are critically important when it comes to personal development. The type of beliefs you hold affect the thoughts you have, the way you live, how you view other people and how other people view you. Beliefs affect every aspect of your life and if you want to develop to your fullest potential, you must recognize and change the beliefs you hold which are harmful to your life.

When it comes to personal development be sure that you act before action is needed as often as possible. This is important so that you are able to act as swiftly and thoroughly as possible. If something is inevitable, take action now before it is too late to do anything so that you are the one in control.

If you still have a table and a fridge full of leftovers from your Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, pack them up and deliver them to the local women's club or homeless shelter, rather than throwing them out. You will feel better inside and can easily brighten someone's day with delicious foods and desserts. Try to make this a habit that is not necessarily limited to major holidays, whether you deliver food once per week or once per month.

To keep yourself motivated have a friendly competition with a friend or colleague. This applies to everything from weight loss to quarterly goals. Most people simply work harder when in competition with others. The other person can also help you stay on track and avoid lazy days. For extra motivation compete for a prize.

Ask others what they do to keep themselves looking and feeling good. You can always chat with others to find out what works for them; this will give you ideas you may not have thought about before. Their ideas might work even better for you than some of the things you are already doing.

A great personal development tip is to always be productive in this world. Make sure you make enough to provide for yourself, your family, and others that are in need. Idle hands are truly the Devil's handiwork, so if you are lazy, you will turn to evil things. Therefore, always make sure you do your part in the world.

As mentioned at the start of this article, using the SMART concept of specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time bound oriented goals, in addition to the tips and advice provided in this article, you will be able to be more effective and efficient in accomplishing your goals on a personal and career level.
