The average Joseph and Josephina does not know what writing a blog can do for them on a daily basis. Blogging can be viewed as nerdy or something that just takes up time without giving the instant gratification society has grown use to. Recently blogging however has left the nerd station and has become sexy. Some very informed people have realized the many benefits of blogging and I want to share a few here in this article.
I'll start out by just refreshing you on what a blog is. The original term for blog was weblog. A weblog is simply a log of content people keep. Before blogs came into the scene, websites were mainly flash or static. Now a weblog can be kept for visitors to websites to go back and view what this website (online journal of a website) has been up to for the last few months, years, or days. So a blog is just like keeping a journal, the things young girls write in to get their emotions out in print, and talk about who they have a secret crush on. With this background info, what is the benefit of blogging?
Blogging helps you think better. I learned this from one of my main mentors. When you keep a log of things it helps the brain process information. This means it helps you think better. I can attest to this even before my mentor in told it to me. This is because when I was learning a new subject, I began to simply blog about what I was learning and as time went on, I realized I was learning it better and more easily. Brian Tracy once said if you want to learn something well, teach it. I began to teach what I was learning (in that subject matter) through my blog. It helped me process what I was learning faster, retain it better, and think clearer about it.
In order to think better, we have to ask ourselves questions and think about the answer and write about it. This is how to develop content for our blog. We can research questions other people are constantly asking and think for them by providing the answers. Our thinking will get so much better because we're forcing our brain to work in the form of thinking.
An additional known benefit of blogging is the ability to earn money in doing it. It is probably why 95% of the world of bloggers blog. While blogging is not overnight money (thus the reason people start and quit often), it is the sure money in the internet marketing field. When we blog constantly with good content, we can monetize our efforts. There are multiple ways to monetize your blog. There is the use of Ads where people pay us monthly to advertise on our websites or blogs. We can use Google Adsense, affiliate promotions, or develop our own products to advertise on our blog.
If you are serving up good quality filled content, then you are sure to have plenty of visitors, readers, subscribers, and that will equate to good income if you are properly monetized. Who would have thought, blogging will help you think better, and thinking could make you money?
By blogging, we are in position to help other people. If our blog is a "how to" blog or a product review, or a travel review, it is poised to help our readers in some fashion. Even if our blog is pure entertainment, we are still able to help our readers by providing good entertainment. Our blogging has to provide education or entertainment (or both); primarily our blogs have to fill a void or provide a solution. And we have the ability to do that simply with and by blogging.
If our blog turns out to help people, such as the mommy who blogged about motherhood helping thousands of mothers gain better concepts of motherhood; we can turn into experts in our niche or topic. If our blogs become solution providers, we can be viewed as a "white coat" expert, which will swell our bank accounts even further. Being known as an expert will open more doors and help turn our simple little blog into a worldwide business right online. This definitely will help us monetize our blogs now, won't it?
There are other benefits; however, these four really stand out to me. Taking the first step and starting a blog is the key. Imagine starting a hobby that takes perhaps half an hour a day and it helps one think better, earn money, help others, and become an expert. If that does not make one go out and begin blogging, I just don't know what will. It is very easy to begin a blog today; it can start for less than 25 bucks a month. Get started today and enjoy the benefits of blogging!
