A Guide To Success In Manuscript Publishing

By Laura Gallagher

For any aspiring author, nothing can be much sweeter than getting his first book published. Not everybody gets the chance to achieve this glory, knowing how busy publishers can get. Nevertheless, you can take these few few steps to make your manuscript publishing spree successful.

It is important that you finish the entire story first before submitting it to different publishers. To do so, you should use a good word processing software. Most publishers prefer the works to be in Microsoft Word format. But if you are using another software, you may do save it in MS Word format.

Formatting your work is as essential as finishing it too. Lines should be double spaced and the font should be 12 point too. The margin should be aligned at the right and indention must be present for every first word of the paragraph.

To guide your reader as to the different parts of the book, you need to italicize, make bold, use capitalization or type regular letters to label headings, subheadings and ordinary text. If you wish to quote lines from other sources, you also need to make the font unique for plagiarism avoidance.

Many publishers refuse to accept unsolicited works. To sell yourself, you can start by making a query letter. The letter needs to be compelling enough though to be accepted. You should submit your work to different publishers in one time since they may take time to go over your work.

If you wish to, you can work with an agent to represent you to the different publishers. But since the future of your pen and paper will depend much on the hardwork of these agents, you need to be particular with choosing one. Always choose loyal and persevering agents to help you out.

manuscript publishing can be pretty challenging for aspiring authors. But once it bears fruit, the output can be pretty sweet. Some writers even make a lot of money due to what they write. But then again, this takes a great deal of patience and perseverance too.
