Are Online Games Healthy For Your Child?

By Ronald Lozinskerr

In the past, the common trend among children was to play outside the house. Socializing with the rest of the kids on the block was looked forward to by many, and most of the games that were being played required mobility and physical exertion of effort. That was until technology came into the picture and introduced the wonders of modern gaming. Suddenly, kids have stopped going out of the house to play. This, nevertheless, did not completely put a stop to their interaction with other kids as online games allow the gamers to actually communicate and "play" with other players. Food online games and cooking online games have consequently become a hit among kids regardless of age group and gender.

Whether or not the effects of online games on children are good is still a matter of debate. According to some, online gaming reduces the risk of physical injuries from actual games while others are repelled by its risk in causing gaming addiction and other psychological effects. Actually, both arguments are true; hence, online gaming can both be a good and bad thing especially when it comes to young gamers. This stresses a great weight of responsibility on the parents to supervise their children when playing games such as food online games and cooking online games. One matter to be considered is the amount of time they allow their children to spend on playing. Young gamers should be trained and disciplined in terms of the time they allot for playing online games. This will help develop a sense of discipline and curb possible gaming addiction.

While gaming addiction and violence may be the most common and most feared negative effects of online games on children, gaming does have good effects according to some psychologists. These games, which involve quick decision making and speedy physical responses, help enhance the brain of children. Several online games require small but quick decisions from the players which aid in sharpening their analytical skills. This can be a good way to train your child in making quick but sound life decisions when the need arises.

Many games also require the players' characters to kick, jump, run, sprint, leap, or turn simultaneously or at once which can help develop the coordination skills of children. The more they get used to the drill, the quicker their reflexes become.

Younger children can easily learn their way around the computer and the internet with the introduction and regular playing in online games.

True enough, online gaming has its boons and boo-boo's especially for children. It is your role as parents to choose primarily how online gaming should work for them.
