How to Consistently Get Fresh Ideas for Your Blog Posts

By Jarad Gibbs

If you have been building your blog for even a small amount of time, you already understand just how difficult it can be to think of new and unique blog post ideas regularly. Even when you have managed to grow your blog to a certain level of success you will see that you need to always be looking for new ways to come up with new blog post ideas. Filling your blog with content consistently is pretty easy but only if you are always on the lookout for useful ideas that you can write about that will interest your readers.

One of the best ways to come up with new and useful ideas for your blog is to read magazines to keep yourself updated. The research that goes into creating and publishing a successful magazine is a lot and bloggers can easily capitalize this. For example, if you're running a blog about 'Heavy Metal Music', you can easily find popular music magazines discussing this subject and get ideas from there. You will see that most magazines only talk about the topics that are popular and that helps you save time in finding out whether or not a topic is worth covering or not. You should also find time to keep track of other blogs in your niche because this way you'll not only keep yourself updated about what's happening, it'll also give you some good ideas that you can cover in your blog posts. You don't have to be 100% unique with every single blog post ideas; if someone else has covered a topic you can do the same. For example, if a hot topic has been working it's way through the blogosphere, you'll see that even though a lot of blogs talk about the same topic, they all do it in their own ways. Having your own persona and your own choice of input will help you make an already used idea unique.

Interact with as many professionals in your targeted field as you can to see if they might be a good source of ideas. Every single field and target market has professionals that work within it and getting to know them can yield a gold mine full of great ideas. You don't really have to go out there and directly interview them, but if you can simply get in touch and talk to them while building a relationship, you'll discover that they'll give you many ideas served on a silver platter. It is important, however, to make sure that you aren't abusing this privilege.

Talk about your blog with your friends and acquaintances and see if they have any suggestions or ideas about what you should talk about in your blog. A lot of the time we underestimate the people we already know about such things and it is important to be open about discussing newer ideas with the people to whom you feel close. For instance, all you need to do is send an email to your friends and tell them what you are trying to find and then wait to see what kind of feedback you get; you'll more than likely wind up with a few ideas to write about.

As a blogger you need to be active in many different areas because making your blog successful is not just about starting it and updating it once in a while. You have to focus your attention on getting as much as humanly possible from your blog by introducing new ideas that you want to share with your readers. This is the way you build a good and steady readership that are more than ready to tell their own friends about your blog because they think it is so great.
