Healing Root Chakra with power of light

By Kate Gonzales

Our seven Chakras, or energy centers, absorb, distribute and radiate light and energy. This light comes from the sun and enters our bodies through the eyes, the skin and the Chakras, themselves. We live only because of this light. Our fast paced society finds us holed up in our offices and cubicles, stuck inside of classrooms, sacked out on the couch in front of the television or traveling from one indoor place to another on our quest for fulfillment, whether we are dining out, shopping or going to the theater.

We exist as part of a fine, endless source of energy and life that we, ourselves, can help generate and sustain. We are multi-dimensional beings and as such, we have the power to effect the changes that we would like to see in our world. It starts here, with each of us, and it starts now.How do we change our course this late in the game?We harmonize; we re-energize; we reclaim and assume responsibility for exercising our right to create a world that is open to all people rather than closing ourselves off to the energy that is generated by those who disagree. When we discover that we are energy beings, made of light and timelessness, able to carry on despite the impediment of mortality and death, illness and disease, closed-mindedness and suffering, then we have arrived at our true nature. We are healers; each and every one of us.

Alternative healing modalities have, for years, been gently reminding us not to be afraid of the life giving sunlight that is required for life to exist.Even so, there are dangers to an excess of sun exposure, and as our planetary conditions change it is thought that these dangers will become more pronounced over time. Several healing therapies have been developed over the last 50 years or so that stimulate the chakras using colored light that corresponds to each of the seven major Chakras of the human body.

The Solar Plexus Chakra, vibrating to a brilliant Yellow hue, feeds into our sense of personal power and accomplishment. The Heart Chakra, symbolized by the healing color Green, is the place where we feel loved and nurtured. The Throat Chakra, illuminated by Blue, aids is in communicating our truth wisely. The Brow Chakra is a radiant Indigo color and stimulates higher awareness, opens the way for expanded thought and perception and instigates dreams.Just as the Root Chakra connects us to the Earth, the Crown Chakra symbolized by the color Violet, connects us to the heavens, drawing us up and out of our sleepy self absorption and into the realm of God.We become one.

Our energy system is completely interconnected. An imbalance in one Chakra inevitably throws off all of our energy centers to some degree, so it is important to treat our energy centers with care and respect.Light therapy for Chakras engages the body's natural healing abilities and promotes balance and harmony throughout the energy system, lending to better health and overall well being.

Visualizing the colors as light, or shining colored light upon your Chakras and meditating upon the sensation, is a simple, easy and affordable way to bring yourself back into harmony, energetically.Five to ten minutes of color therapy per Chakra is plenty of time to stimulate the movement and flow of energy, and you don't even have to leave your living room to do it.Once the unbalanced Chakras are felt to be in motion again, a full spectrum color treatment and meditation can build up your energy reserves, and assist you in handling the external problems that were symptoms of the imbalance to begin with.A short color meditation each day sets the tone for energized and competent interactions with others and shows a level of self care that is necessary if we are to become whole and healthy beings in our bodies.
