How To Cope With Wedding Speech Nerves - 9 Helpful Hints

If you're not used to public speaking, then making a wedding speech can be very daunting. Because of this, there are a few important tips to consider which will help you overcome your nerves and deliver a great wedding speech.

Don't forget that these people are on your side. They are not really thinking or hoping that you will mess things up. You are connected with the people there and so are the audience and this is the reason why you are giving a speech. You can be assured that anything you say in your wedding speech will be listened to and respected fully if you bear this in mind.

Also, people listening to speeches at weddings are wanting to laugh as this breaks the tension. So any vague attempt of a joke will get you a response.

Thoroughly practice your wedding speech. If you practice more, then you will feel less nervous on the actual day. Don't forget to practice the intonation of your voice and the pauses. As long as you show that you've put effort into your preparation, any mistakes you make on the day will be forgiven easily.

Learn your speech by heart. Whether it's in the car on the way to work or in the shower, you need to practice your speech whenever you have some spare time. Think of a funny story before you stand up. It should be something mildly titillating so it will bring a smile to your face but it shouldn't be something so funny that you will lose your focus.
