Eulogy For Mother At A Time Of Great Sadness And Heartbreak

By Jesper Carsen

There can be few more difficult things for a person to do than to deliver a Eulogy for Mother at a stage when they are devastated with grief. If one is able to step back and take a detached look at the task it can be viewed in a very positive way.

Each person has their own unique method to deal with the loss of a loved one. They need to be allowed mend in their own personal way and given time to do so.

For others it may be a speech of acknowledgement of a life well lived, of times spent together that are cherished and a time to sing praises. For those who have been privileged to have had a mom who was kind and loving and always there for them it may be a chance to share fond memories and give thanks.

One has the feeling that delivering a speech at the funeral about a mom who lived well into her old age is easier than speaking about one who has passed on because of a senseless accident or a debilitating disease. One needs a long lifetime of wonderful memories to share at a time like this. To pack out as one would precious jewels from a casket.

It is only in adversity that the true character of a person is revealed. As a person travels down the road of life there are many instances of misfortune and devastating events to contend with. A mother's reactions to these times are the ones that will have the most impact on her children. They are the ones that could be mentioned along with a few anecdotes of great joyous occasions.

Mothers are human beings and as such will have had their fair share of faults that together with their good traits will have shaped her into the person she became. In sharing her life in the way her children remember her one will be giving a true rendition of the woman that was called 'my mother'.

Words and deeds are long remembered after people have died. It is those deeds and words that need to be included in a Eulogy for Mother. The good and the bad times reflect on the person as a whole and should be told and remembered with love. For many the reading of a poem is sufficient and there are many of these to be found in books and online. A jumble of words from a long forgotten song that said something about not grieving when standing at the grave as the person was still alive in their loved one's hearts and head comes suddenly to mind.
